Frequently asked questions
Which NEC edition does VoltDeck use?
NEC 2026 at launch. Support for older editions (NEC 2017, 2020, 2023) may be added later as free updates if there is enough user demand and the citations can be verified against the NEC text. No older edition is guaranteed — if you specifically need an older edition, please email us so we can prioritize.
You can change the default edition in Settings → NEC Edition and override it per job in Jobs → New Job → NEC Edition. Only editions that are currently supported in your installed version of VoltDeck appear in the picker.
Does VoltDeck reproduce the NEC text?
No. VoltDeck shows only re-tabulated numerical values (conductor properties, raceway areas, etc.) and computed results, with article numbers cited so you can look up the official text yourself. The NEC text itself is the property of NFPA and must be obtained from them.
Can I rely on VoltDeck’s calculations for a real installation?
No — not without verification. VoltDeck is an early release and its calculations have not been independently audited or certified. You must:
- Verify every result against another calculator, hand calculation, or the NEC text before relying on it
- Obtain AHJ approval for any installation that depends on a VoltDeck calculation
- Treat results as a starting point for your own analysis, not as a final answer
See the full disclaimer for details.
Does VoltDeck work offline?
Yes — fully. No internet connection is required to use any calculator or browse the reference library. Optional iCloud sync (Settings → iCloud Sync) only runs in the background when you’re online and signed into iCloud.
Does VoltDeck collect any of my data?
No. VoltDeck collects nothing. No accounts, no analytics, no crash reports, no usage tracking, no advertising IDs. Your jobs and saved calculations live only on your device (and your private iCloud, if you turn sync on). See the Privacy Policy for the full statement.
How do I restore a purchase on a new device?
Open the app → Settings → Restore Purchase. As long as you’re signed into the same Apple ID that made the original purchase, your Pro entitlement will restore automatically.
How do I cancel or manage my subscription?
Open the app → Settings → Manage Subscription (visible only when you have an active yearly subscription). Or in iOS Settings → tap your name → Subscriptions → VoltDeck.
Cancellation keeps Pro access until the end of the current billing period.
What does “Pro Lifetime” cover?
Lifetime access covers every Pro feature in the VoltDeck v1.x product line, including every NEC edition that ships during the v1 lifecycle. NEC 2026 is included at launch. Any additional editions we ship in v1.x — whether older editions added based on user demand, or future editions like NEC 2029 — are included free for lifetime owners.
How do I save a calculation to a job?
After running any calculator, tap Save to Job at the bottom of the result. You can either pick an existing job or create a new one. Saved calculations are an immutable audit trail — they can be deleted but not edited.
Why are some calculators locked?
Free tier includes Voltage Drop, Wire Ampacity, and OCPD Sizing. The other 6 calculators are available with the Pro upgrade ($39.99 lifetime or $14.99/year).
Does VoltDeck work on iPad?
Yes — VoltDeck is a universal iOS app and runs on iPhone, iPad, and Mac (via Apple Silicon). The iPad layout is optimized in a future update; v1 uses the iPhone layout scaled up.
Is there an Android version?
Planned for a later release. iOS comes first.
I think a calculation is wrong — what do I do?
Email mail@rooban.net with:
- The calculator name (e.g., “Voltage Drop”)
- All inputs you used (conductor size, length, current, etc.)
- The NEC edition selected
- The result VoltDeck gave
- The result you expected, with your reference (NEC article + page, or another calculator)
Calculation correctness is the highest-priority issue for VoltDeck. Reports are investigated and patched as quickly as possible.
